Controversial rapper Eminem, real name Marshall Mathers, has ridden a roller coaster ride of fame within the three years he has spent in the public interest. With his career, as well as his personal life in the spotlight, Eminem has managed to create both hit records and scandals at the same time. He was born in Kansas City on October 17, 1972. He learned from a young age how to escape from his disordered home life by acting out in school and moving from place to place. This left him with a shortage of friends which spurred his tendencies to escape and write down his feelings in the form of rap lyrics. Although Marshall has faced gun and assault charges, many believe that he is nowhere near the violent, hateful, homophobic person that he appears to portray. Some actually view Marshall as a loving, caring father. By examining both sides of this controversy, we can see examine whether Eminem’s lyrics are harmful to society or simply harmless entertainment. The more people see his unique style and talent, the more successful Eminem gets. There are a lot of parents, as well politicians that dislike him. It is amusing that parents teach their kids not to judge others but yet they appear to judge him.
People may find Eminem’s lyrics bad, but I personally don’t feel that he is a terrible influence. He may have to “play the part” and say things to get either a negative or positive attention in order to rise in fame, it is believed that any publicity is good publicity. He is a rapper and may appear to have a bad temper, but people have the freedom of choice, and may chose whether or not they would like to hear his music. As an artist, music is his outlet; he is able to release his emotions. He swears, he yells, he makes fun of people, but in the end he is one of the most popular artists. If you like him, continue to support Eminem and listen to his music. If you don't, simply listen to another artist. In my opinion, Eminem is an excellent hip hop artist. His lyrics are deep and he is talented. He talks about his real life situations and the struggles that he has had to endure as well as how he overcomes them.
Eminem is considered an idol to a lot of adolescence. His lyrics have helped people overcome their problems in life by relating to his life.  People may be influenced in a bad way if they cannot think for themselves and if right and wrong has not been instilled in them. If a teen or child can think for themselves, then that child would know right from wrong, and not follow in the footsteps of the one spreading a bad example. Eminem’s early music had some bad lyrics, but he appears to be completely changed since then. In fact, he says in one of his songs, "Criminal", that he was not a bad influence. He states in the song "Half the **** I say, I say is just to make you mad". Also, Eminem explained that his offensive jokes made in “The Slim Shady LP”, were not meant to be taken seriously. Besides, if you think about it, Eminem has had a positive influence, because he is a Caucasian rapper. He was basically the rapper that said any race can do rap, not just African Americans. His most recent song called "Not Afraid” is about his struggles with being addicted to prescription drugs and him being able to rise above this. He has the upper hand to encourage young people to not do drugs.

Of course, the lyrics are not a good content but what song is a good content? Eminem, and all those other rappers are doing what they do best and there lyrics are usually about a bad content such as sex, drugs and so on. Regarding it to be bad for teens, I don’t think so. Music is a form of expression and kids listen to rap for the same reason why an adult listens to Opera, they like it. If this question regards your child listening to rap, I would suggest for you to not take away his or her music. Music is important in the teenager’s life. Trying to take away music will just make the teen want to listen to it more. In any case, rap music is as rock music. No song is really "good" for you and that includes classical. Classical music is sometimes inspired by hate or something of that nature. In conclusion, Eminem is not bad for teens, it’s quite neutral.
On the other hand, it is pretty obvious why parents dislike this notorious rapper. The rage in contemporary music against irresponsible adults, perhaps the most interesting is that Eminem. Of all the names guaranteed to send a shudder down the parental spine, his is probably the most effective. In fact, Eminem has single-handedly, if inadvertently, achieved the otherwise ideologically impossible.
The spectacle of a foul-mouthed bad-example rap icon instructing the hardworking parents of North America, in the art of child-rearing is indeed a peculiar one, not to say ridiculous. The single mother who is working frantically because she must and worrying all the while about what her child is listening to in the headphones is entitled to a certain fury over lyrics like those. In fact, to read through most rap lyrics is to wonder which adults or political constituencies wouldn’t take offense. Even so, the music idols who point the finger away from themselves and toward the emptied-out homes of ours, are telling a truth that some adults would rather not hear. In this limited sense at least, Eminem is right.

Hi Aneesa,

Actually, this writing is pretty good.

Made a few changes.

One thing you need to fix is 2 spaces after each period.

Good luck!
