Just need some clarification on exactly what the area is.  What does x with power of 2+50x mean?

Could you please tell me exactly what the area is, and use ^ for exponent and put brackets around everything that is in exponent.  Eg.  2 to the power (5+3x) would be 2^(5+3x)  or 2 to the power of 4 would be 2^4
